Last Day 7 - Activity 7
Three things I could do to make New Zealand beautiful.
1. I would go and pick up rubbish in any place I would see rubbish.
2. I would put up signs that said on them Please keep New Zealand BEAUTIFUL.
3. I would also plant some seeds in a place where there were no plants at all.
Here is a photo of me doing something that I find really relaxing... watching Netflix!

Day 6 - Activity
Cold!
brand new
wet coarse sand
our journey was long
but now we have arrived
here in this chilly unfamiliar land
we step out of the homely waka
Land of the long white cloud
waiting for us. We're here!
So much hopeful expectation
into unchartered territory
Our home
Aotearoa!

Day 5 - Activity 5
On our trip to the South Island we went for a walk in the middle of a rain forest in Lewis Pass. Lewis Pass is a beautiful place. As we were walking I stopped to look at a tree with colourful leaves and flowers on it. Then I took a photo with a camera. I turned around and the group was gone. I started to panic and I became really scared. I thought about running but then I decided to stay. I decided to stay because if I ran I could be even more lost and the group would not find me in the same spot where the tree would be. Suddenly I heard a familiar giggle and then heard the group shout surprise. The group were hiding. I was so happy to see them. I said I knew you wouldn't leave me behind. We all left laughing together.

Day 4 - Activity 4
Earlier this year a whole lot of whales got stranded on Farewell Spit which is at the top of the South Island. 300 of them died but not without a lot of help trying to keep them alive by the local people.
The people tried to help the whales by keeping them wet with as much buckets, bottles, pots and bowls of water and anything that they could find that could hold more water to tip on the whales. They also covered them with wet cloths, towels and lava lava's. All of the whales were treated equally, with respect.
The 8 whales in the story that I read had all floated back out to sea the next morning. What a relief!

Day 3 - Activity 3
The kiwi is New Zealand's national and endangered bird. But you can not just find a kiwi anywhere they live in rain-forest and they only come out at night.
The native bird I have chosen is the Little Spotted Kiwi. The most common place they are found is on Kapiti Island. It is the smallest of all the Kiwi family and normally weighs between 1.2 to 2kg. Little Spotted Kiwis eat things like worms, cicadas, bugs, small fruit and leaves.
There were not any of these kiwis left on the north or south Island, but now they put some on some of the smaller islands around Auckland and Wellington. They live in forests and cannot fly. They are nocturnal, which means they come out at night and sleep during the day.
I think they are really cute!

Day 2- Activity 2
Auckland is home to 1.500000 people. In Auckland there are more boats per capita (per person) than any other city in the world. Wow!
My five most favourite tourist things to do are;
1. Sky tower
2. Kelly Tarltons Aquarium
3. Catching the ferry to Devonport
4. Mission bay
5. The zoo
The sky tower stands as the highest building in Auckland at 328 meters and has been standing in that position for 20 years. Also the sky has a restaurant, souvenirs, movies about the sky tower and bungee jumping. My family and I went to the Sky Tower restaurant for my brother's 18th birthday - it was very flash!

Day 1 - Activity 1
Today I had to find three interesting facts about people of New Zealand.
The first fact is that 5% of the population of New Zealand are human, and the rest are animals! That is a lot of animals.
The second fact is that there are more people living in Auckland than in the whole of the South Island! No wonder there are so many cars.
The third fact is that New Zealander's have won more Olympic medals per capita (which means for each person in the population when you compare it to other countries) than any other country; which means that we are pretty good at sports as a nation.

Welcome holidays!
Today was the last day of term two. I'm now in the holidays! Yay! I love the holidays, it gives more time for my family and I to spend more time together. This holidays I hope to go and see my Nana with my sisters and my mum. I am also going to do baking with my sister and my mum. My Nana has a spa pool and a swimming pool in her retirement village. At my Nana's house we are going to do cleaning and it is going to be fun. In the second week of the holiday my cousin's are coming to stay witch will be heaps of fun because Harry is one of my best friends.
The other great thing that is happening is I get to take my Chromebook home for the holidays. That means I get to blog whenever I want to. Happy Holidays everyone.

Animation voice over
hi my name is jedida. In the beginning Maori people made waka’s and paddle’s out of carved wood. Then sailboat’s were made and they used wind power instead of paddle’s.Technology has changed over time because people have invented better ideas and people have made motors .
